ICOM Russia brings together museum experts to discuss various museum-related themes, as well as implement educational, capacity-building and awareness-rising activities among practicing museum employees, new specialists and students of museum-related disciplines.
As a non-profit organization, ICOM Russia is financed primarily by membership fees. The Committee advocates the role of museums as basic cultural and educational institutions contributing to social, economic and cultural development. In line with the global trend, Russian museums are embracing new forms of work, new ways of communication with audience, and new technologies of heritage protection and presentation.
Following the global tendencies of contemporary life and profound changes in museum sphere, the Russian Committee of ICOM has taken an approach to modernize its activity and legal structure in such a way that enables to develop new initiatives, expand cooperation with collective and individual members, as well as other international organizations. For this reason, ICOM Russia is marked by the active project work on a permanent basis and is searching to attract funds for museum programmes.
