    ICOM 75 Year Anniversary

International Council of Museums (ICOM) was born on November 16, 1946 at a meeting held at the Louvre Museum in Paris. Today we are celebrating ICOM 75 Year Anniversary.

Over the past 75 years, ICOM committees have contributed to what our network is today.

Through our history, this international forum has grown stronger by supporting the museum community and by creating programs, activities and strong connections with members world- wide, by organizing the ICOM General Conference as the main event for the global museum community, which is held every 3 years and brings together museum professionals from all over the world to exchange experiences and discuss issues related to the promotion, protection, and preservation of heritage in the framework of museum activities. The conference develops key decisions that determine the vector of museum development in every country in the world.
The Russian National Committee has been an ICOM member since 1957. There are about 1500 members in ICOM Russia today.

Join us and the more than 49,000 ICOM members in celebrating the achievements of the world's largest museum network.
